Founded in March 2006, the Jacksonville RollerGirls (JRG) is Jacksonville’s first and only all female flat-track roller derby league. The JRG have since earned a reputation for hitting hard and playing strong against other leagues throughout the Southeast region. Comprised of over 70 skaters, the JRG are dispersed among four teams that compete on differing skill levels: home teams Duval Derby Dames, River City Rat Pack, First Coast Fatales and our All-Star traveling team, the New Jax City Rollers. The Jacksonville RollerGirls is member owned-and-operated and is based on the concept “by the skaters, for the skaters”. All of our league members are volunteers who are dedicated to promoting an action-packed, full-contact sport that is both a thrill to play and non-stop entertainment for the spectator.
JRG were accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) in December 2010. After the first year at this competitive level, JRG is currently ranked #12 in the South Central Region. The 2012 season will set a precedent for the league as we train harder and travel further to play some of the most experienced leagues in the country. The New Jax City Rollers will only be competing against other WFTDA teams during 2012 allowing JRG to be nationally ranked and recognized.
JRG is not solely known for their athleticism, but is also recognized throughout Jacksonville for their volunteer efforts. We strongly believe in giving back to the community that has supported the foundation of our league. The team and staff regularly make appearances at local events by donating time, labor, and goods to the community and charity organizations such as The Blood Alliance, Toys for Tots, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
